Heavy Rains and Storms with Hail Forecast for Buenos Aires

Buenos Aires, March 16 (NA) – The city of Buenos Aires and the surrounding metropolitan area will experience heavy rain and storms, with possible hail, according to reports from the National Meteorological Service (SMN), which has issued yellow alerts for the entire AMBA area. According to meteorological reports accessed by the Noticias Argentinas agency, rain is expected to arrive on Monday night in the Federal Capital and its surroundings, but it will initially be light precipitation. When the rain reaches the AMBA area, a yellow alert for strong storms with hail is in effect. The rains will begin tonight and continue throughout Tuesday, intensifying on the morning of March 17. The worst of the weather is expected for the afternoon of Tuesday, to the point that the SMN has issued a yellow alert: “The area will be affected by storms of varying intensity, some locally strong. They will be accompanied by abundant rainfall in short periods, frequent electrical activity, occasional hail, and gusts that can exceed 70 km/h,” the official body reported. For Tuesday, accumulated precipitation values between 25 and 50 mm are forecast, which may be exceeded in some areas. Recommendations from the National Meteorological Service: Avoid going outside. Do not take out the trash and clean drains and sewers. Unplug appliances and cut off the electricity supply if water enters. Close and stay away from doors and windows. Remove or secure objects that could be blown away by the wind. If you are outdoors, seek immediate shelter in a building, house, or enclosed vehicle.
